DR. VALERIA RICKARD

Dr. Valeria Rickard has been involved with purebred dogs for over 35 years.  Under the JOVAL Kennel name she has been breeding Airedale Terriers for over 30 years and  Brussels Griffons for over 12 years.

JOVAL bred Airedales have been regularly ranked the #1 in the country and were among Top 10 Terriers in USA. Her dogs have won All the major Breed awards at Westminster, Montgomery and AKC Royal Canin Nationals.

Dr. Rickard often shows her own dogs and personally has won Best of Breed at Crufts, Interra, Several World Dog Shows and the Airedale Terrier National Specialty. Her most prestigious win with her Airedale was at the Amsterdam World Dog Show '18 where she won The Terrier Group.  

JOVAL's successes have extended to the Brussels Griffons as well, with several dogs achieving top 5 ranking in the country. Her Brussels Griffons have won Several Bests of Breed at the National Specialties, numerous Regional Specialties, Royal Canin National Championships and the Westminster Kennel Club shows.

Being a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, coupled with her long-standing interest in purebred dogs and precise knowledge of their anatomy and movement has earned her exciting opportunities to judge all over the USA & North America as well as at numerous shows in Europe, Asia and Australia.

Dr. Rickard has been a conformation judge for over 15 years and is currently approved to judge Four Groups (Terrier, Toy, Sporting and Non-Sporting), Dachshunds, several working breeds and Best in Show. She particularly enjoys and has had the privilege of judging numerous Breed Specialties.
