The objectives of the Club were the encouragement and development of purebred dogs by:
- Educating Members and the public of the benefits of purebred dogs.
Under the direction of qualified people, encourage and assist each other to compete in a sportsmanlike manner in competitions as sanctioned by the Canadian Kennel Club.
The SD&G Dog Association is affiliated with the Canadian Kennel Club.
The SD&G Dog Association is an all-breed dog club operating as ana non-profit organization.
- From the time the Club was recognized by the CKC in 1989 we held our show at first in Alexandria, Ontario in the arena and then moved to the beautiful St. Lawrence Parks, Woodlands Campground, Long Sault, Ontario in August 1998 until August 2023.
- Since moving to the Woodlands Campground, the SD&G Dog Show has grown and now we are the largest show in Ontario and 2nd largest show in Canada.
- Our objectives for the dog show are to become No. 1 show in Canada.
- Our moving to the new location in Maxville, Ontario will allow us to grow our shows and offer even more events.
- We offer 4 days of All Breeds show, 20+ Regional and National Specialty shows, Boosters, Limited Breed shows, along with Obedience, Rally, Agility, Junior Showmanship, Scent Detection, Trick Dogs and Canine Good Neighbor Tests. Plus, in the future, Sprinter and we are working on more!
- We usually have an approximate entry of 3,000 to 4,000 over the period of 4 days and will be increasing our entries at our new venue.
- We hire judges from across Canada, U.S.A., Mexico, South America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, to come and judge at our conformation show. We also hire judges across Ontario and Quebec to judge our performance events.
